Modelo beer's history began in 1925 with the founding of Cervecería Modelo (Grupo Modelo) in Mexico City. Inspired by German brewing techniques, the brewery first produced Modelo Especial, a crisp Pilsner-style lager, followed by Negra Modelo and Corona.
